I would like to explain to the readers of the 'Tuncurry' book, and have it recorded that I have only lived in the Great Lakes area for eleven years and am not, in any way, an expert on the history of the district. Having lived all the previous years of my life in the Sutherland Shire I am far more familiar with that Shire's history. Therefore all the information and stories in this book I have typed from researching and records that other residents have written before me with the exception of the "Prison Farm" information and "Shark & Fishy Stories" that I researched myself.

I am sorry I never met Mick Constable, he passed away three years before I came here but I can admire the man by reading the stories and items he wrote. Also his pencil sketch work is very valuable to the likes of this book where a photo wasn't available. He must have spent lots of time and money in researching the items in his 'Winds of Change' series. They tell us so much about the district and its people.

Another main researcher that our Museum has valuable work of is Dawn McMaster. Dawn had a particularly wonderful memory. She didn't have to research as Mick did as she lived here practically all her life and knew the area and people. She knew so much about the various types of ships she amazed me. Dawn remembered the various happenings and events. We miss her at the Museum and we miss her just not being here.

Another source of research with a wonderful memory is Vic Bramble. This gentleman is a joy to talk to, hearing so much history from him is an event.

We, at our Great Lakes Museum, are very interested in corrections to any information that might be wrong as your memory could recall something differently to the stories that are written within this book.

I sincerely wish the readers enjoyment and maybe knowledge that wasn't previously known by reading the 'Tuncurry' book.
